Watch the mochi puff up as it cooks. A lightly crisp surface gives way to a warm, soft and chewy centre. Add a little soy sauce and wrap in nori for a simple Japanese snack that feels wonderfully satisfying.

Sato Kirimochi uses Japanese-grown glutinous rice and features scoring to help divide the cakes. Simmer in sweet red bean soup, or add to Japanese-style soups for a comforting chewy bite.

The 400g pack contains individually wrapped cakes, making it easy to prepare a warm snack or an unhurried weekend treat.

🥢 Preparation / Directions

Remove all packaging and cook thoroughly before eating.

Conventional oven: Preheat to 250°C and cook for approximately 8 minutes. Adjust for your oven.

Toaster oven: Cook at 1000W for approximately 3–4 minutes until lightly browned. Switch off and leave the door closed for approximately 2 minutes to allow the centre to puff up.

Simmer: Place in cold water and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for approximately 2 minutes.

Microwave: Place in a microwave-safe container with enough water to cover. Heat two cakes at 500W for approximately 2 minutes 30 seconds. Adjust for the container and water quantity.

Mochi is sticky. Cut into small pieces and chew slowly and thoroughly to reduce choking risk. Take care with hot food and water.
